Day 401: 23rd Oct, 2010 - Tomorrow, it dies

Nearing the end of what would be my last mid-sem here. Have my BE paper tomorrow. Unlike most of the other exams, this one would be a closed-book one. And not a paper where you can simply 'globe around'. Realised this pretty late, and that is why I am making this post at 4 am. Tried to study a little, and tried to keep myself awake much more :-p . For a good amount of time, I have just been blasting off songs at full volume, not to mention my own vocal addition to all of them :D

But interesting day. Had SDM early morning. Took my place in the exam hall and noticed that the guy in front of me hadn't come. Made a mental remark on what kinda ass that person was. 10 minutes into the exam, the supervisor comes up to me and says - "Do you know TG?" Then it struck! Woah, the missing fellow was a wingie + friend. Gave the supervisor contacts for everyone else in the hall. Then after another 30 min, Mr. TG marches in, all zonked, disheveled and sleepy :D . Nicely took his case after the exam in our hostel corridoor. Also came to know about his funny encounter in those 5 minutes before he entered the exam hall. "Exam ke time toh aaplog bahut dava lete hai?" ROFL!

But of course, the God-giri level today was set by Bala. He has set a standard which he himself is going to find very very difficult to meet. None of us can ever forget his brilliant innovation with ICE! :D :D ROFL max stuff! Literally!!

Now I had a good bit of time till my evening exam - LTL. Nothing was to be read for that paper in any case. So decided to make maximum use of that available time and went with Kisaan for a movie :D . Saw Raktacharitra. It's an RGV movie, but quite disappointing. He has tried to bring in some of those Sarkar elements, but the movie falls flat on its face. Had to leave 15 minutes early to make it back on time for my paper. Tried a new strategy of taking some learning over phone, but didn't achieve much success through that :-p

BTW, also made a quick stopover at the Nokia outlet. Now my handset had gone for repairs for around 4 times in the past month. This time, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a new piece itself! However, my happiness seems to be shortlived! :-( . This handset is switching off by itself every now and then. :-( :-( Arrgghhh!!! When will my phone saga end!

Day 354: 30th Aug, 2010

2 things that I absolutely wasn't prepared for. One easily guessable answer of course is my Prom Strat paper - why and how did maths enter the picture?! Half the subjective part was calculations, based on formulae no one would ever have any use by hearting :-| . Though, this wouldn't really be a shocker or anything.

What was actually a bit of a shocker was this phone call I got in the morning. A random female suddenly told me  that my flight had been cancelled due to "operational reasons"! Spent SO much time on this through the day. Before my exam, after my exam, evening etc etc. What is most amusing is how they seem to think that they are doing me a lot of "service" by giving me multiple "options" such as "free" rescheduling on "select flights" OR a refund (when ticket prices would be double). Finally at midnight, came to an option that is 'workable'. But I'll have to spend the entire night at Delhi airport :-(

Int Fin tomorrow. Hardcore numbers - no globe :)

Day 333: 9th Aug, 2010

Woke up exactly 8 min before my Retail class. Even got ready pretty quickly, and then realised I don't have my bike, and it's too far off to run. So skipped it :D

Contrast this with the conB extra class in the evening. Fought against sleep, boredom, disinterest to sit through 1.5 hrs. And then came to know there is no attendance for this session :-(

Life is cruel at times!

Had our first official meeting with the facchas. Gave them some dope on an immediate action plan for them. Very nice bunch of people - you can feel assured they'll make INDEX bigger and better when they get the chance :)

Day 327: 2nd Aug, 2010

One of those typical days.

Was pretty tired yesterday, so happened to doze off comparatively early. Woke up today at 6. Stop alarm. Then at 7. Stop alarm. Then at 8. Stop alarm. Then at 9.30 - Get alarmed about missing the lecture and RUSH for it! Missed breakfast :-(

A very interesting incident happened in the Strat Man class - I suddenly saw the usually docile Tiwari furiously scribbling away and making notes in a book :-O . I was super amazed, and wanted to ask him about his actions, in a manner as if he had broken some unspoken brotherly code. I forgot about it at the end of the lecture. I only had to wait for another hour though - when I went to play Bridge in the evening, I realised he was jotting down relevant stuff!

To give company to the infinite book (Atlas Shrugged), I have also started watching the infinite movie (LOTR 2 - The Twin Towers). There seems to be no concept of 'finite' for these two things!

Day 302: 8th Jul, 2010

It is not everyday when you get acclaims for your "heroics" in class. Today however was one of those special days when I got picked on even though I did nothing. (Nothing much at least i.e. wasn't sleeping, and wasn't really talking).

Just happened to ask one question to Pachpan sitting next to me. The conB prof saw me, and immediately attacked me with a question. The guy in front ever got scared and started answering :D . Good for me, until then. Barely 5 min later, I get picked on AGAIN, and this time for doing absolutely nothing. And I was summoned from the ultimate last bench to the 1st bench. And while I was slowly shredded to pieces with the sharp blades that asked me about everything to my opinion on the case (which I hadn't read) to factor analysis and what not!

Day 289: 25th Jun, 2010

Of course this had to happen with all the different sections and classrooms. I woke up at 9.59 am ..and 10.00 am being the usual second session of the day - I rushed to the classroom. Luckily, just as I reached the classroom, ma'am called out the name of the guy just before me. Unluckily, the next name that was called out didn't happen to be mine. Surprised that I was, I thought I'll speak about it to ma'am after class. Made my way into class and luckily found a seat in the last row. Took my place and glanced around - and then I suddenly saw myself surrounded by new faces. And then it dawned - I was in the wrong class!! My class was at 11.45 am, shucks, wasted an hour of sleep :-p . The good part - made a smooth quick exit before anyone else noticed ;-)

Day 262: 23rd Mar, 2010

I have an alarm set at 5.45am. Why so early? I don't know. But I like to have it then. Interestingly, for the last one week, that alarm has primarily been responsible in alerting me that it is time to go and sleep!

As I said yesterday, submissions were due soon and today somehow was that day of the term when all your submissions need to be completed in those few hours. So there we were, sitting in the library till around 3-3.30am putting things together. (It's still an improvement over our first term performance when we used to sit till 6-7am.)

Once we had finished off with our MM (donnn), ADA (the jugaad) and FM (Golden GLOBE nominee), I left and came back to my room with the intention of doing the HRM project (which was again to read those never-ending cases and summarise them).

But the night was dark and beautiful. The silence was soulful. It needed a melody. So there I was - earphones plugged in, listening to some nice soft numbers. Awesome!

Never realised the time go by, until of course, my alarm reminded me that it is time to go to sleep..

PS: We also had an FM quiz today - 10min was the time limit. Everyone came out and complained about the lack of time to arrive at all answers. By the way, I had finished it in 8min flat. This way or that way, atleast I know to respect time :-p

Also, mass mobilisation in progress to argue over the proposed 2nd year room allocation procedure. More on that tomorrow. So long then!

Day 256: 17th Mar, 2010

Gone are the days when I used to get a bit late and had to run for grabbing that bite before the first lecture. Nowadays,  I sometimes wake up so late that even after missing the first lecture, I have absolutely no time to have breakfast.. I find myself rushing for the 2nd lecture. Fortunately for me, I have a huge cushion of high attendance that I am making good use of now. We had a marathon 3-hour FM guest lecture today - which I bunked - and even my dark complexioned friends could not stop the envious shade of green from showing on their face :D

Just finished seeing a movie called Identity. Pretty interesting movie, a thriller - I recommend.

Day 206: 26th Jan, 2010 - Happy Republic Day!

Timelines here are sacrosanct. On 15th August (Independence Day), I woke up a little late, ran all the way but still reached the venue exactly a minute late (no exaggeration) and missed the flag hoisting and national anthem. I wanted to ensure no such thing happens today. So I had set up an alarm for 8.30, one complete hour before the function at 9.30. I did manage to get up on time, snoozed the alarm for another 15min and then finally got up. I just thought I will confirm the venue once before leaving.

I opened my laptop to check any mail. And here it was:

"Dear Students

Flag Hoisting and Republic Day Celebrations will begin at 9.00 am. You are all invited for the same. The venue is the area adjoing the badminton court and the students affairs centre."

9.00 am!! :O .. Wasn't it supposed to be at 9.30?!?!?!

I checked my watch. 8.55 .. mocked back the face of the watch.

So there I was, running once again at full speed. But I think this time I have more practice running to the lectures and so I did manage to reach the venue just in the nick of time. I landed at the venue at the exact same moment when our beautiful Tricolour was hoisted to flutter in glory :)

Day 205: 25th Jan, 2010

Life suddenly becomes so empty and boring when these fests end. I remember having this kinda feeling after INDEX (to a much higher degree of course) as I suddenly ended up on the routine.

Today I recorded my first absent (excluding the sad HRM incident) of the term. Woke up late and missed the CFM class. Would have missed the next ones too but thankfully ADJ happened to call and wake me up :D . Ran to the class after getting ready in 5min (am becoming more and more proficient at that). Even gave a surprise quiz in HRM :-p

Sat in the INDEX room in the afternoon as the alums were leaving. Nice fun again :D . Ended up recording my second absent as well while talking to them. Nothing to worry, I have enough buffer left.

Anyways, it's only 12.30 right now, but I think I will go to sleep. Want to wake up for tomorrow's function.

Happy Republic Day guys! Jai Hind!

Day 186: 6th Jan, 2010 - Finally, it happened!

Finally, it happened!

First of all, let me talk about something that is so not happening these days - breakfast. Something about the weather, it's EXTREMELY sleep inducing! Yesterday my class started at 9.30, but yet I rushed in for a 2 min breakfast. Today, my class started only at 10.15, but yet I rushed in for a 2 min breakfast! The later the class is, the more I want to sleep. My bench-mate Shreyas is another case in point - he's missed all the first lectures till now :D

Anyways, back to the topic. So, finally what happened? Hmmm, before your mind starts running into all not-so-required directions, let me clear it up myself. I finally did an assignment all by myself. Well, it was a non-evaluative abstract that needed to be written, but even then, I would like to take the credit :D .. **applauds**

Non-mess day. Went to Brij ki Rasoi for lunch - the svastha aani mastha (marathi: cheap & good) option. Dinner was a pizza treat for Sudeshna's birthday. Only thing I had in the mess was the badam milk. Swell :D

Days 37,38: 27th-28th July, 2009

And finally it has happened. After a month of being consistent and punctual, the last 2 days finally brought out the never-to-go-to-college-on-time engineering student in me :-p . Day before yesterday, I woke up at 8.35 for an 8.30 lecture. Could have still made it to the lecture but decided to have breakfast instead and attend the second lec directly. Raised the bar a little higher today by waking up at 9.35 !! Had to RUSH so that I atleast make it to the 2nd lecture.

During engineering, I used to sleep late just wasting time browsing the net and chatting. Here I waste time:
1. copying assignments (old habits die hard :-D)
2. working on the committee tasks that we have
3. trying to remember something about the tons and tons of presentations that are lined up

Our Comm prof wants us to come in formals for the presentations. Actually to be honest I don't know if the prof ever actually said that or some bugger who ran out of casuals just floated the rumour. But either way, it just implies wasting an extra 2-3 minutes in the morning wearing a shirt and trouser and tying the laces of my formal shoes! And we had not been told in which order the groups will be called for presentations, which means formals till my turn comes. Tomorrow however being the last session, it will also be the day of my presentation. Apart from this, I have a LAM presentation, Comm assignment, Comm quiz and MANAC assignment lined up tomorrow.

One great change that has happened here is the weather. The Rain God has finally smiled on the parched lands. Thankfully, it is very pleasant here now. A perfect romantic setting. Just that I neither have a partner :-p . Nor the time :-( .

Finally all the knocking on doors by random people at odd hours and asking for votes stopped. Council elections are out. One of the first high-profile posts in the college to get decided. Hope they do a good job!

Also gave midterm reviews for 2 committee tasks today. Both were OK. The committees were more in a guiding mood than in a grilling mood :-D. And I am not complaining! But parallely, pcom interviews are taking place and they are super duper stress interviews. I have one lined up tomorrow, lets see how I do!

Anyways, it is 3.30 now. Just got to go and sleep. CANNOT afford to miss the lecture tomorrow!
