Day 490:26th Jan, 2011 - Happy Republic Day!

Although we tend to remain free almost all the time these days, it's still pretty nice to have an official 'holiday'. It's like having a license to kill (time, in this case). After a late, lazy morning, I simply did not have the mood for lunch in the mess. And so with, Shomo and Disha, I went to have some of that awesome chole at Aryans. It was nice and sunny, and I even took my own bike (after a long time, as it refuses to start easily in the cold weather).

Seemed like providence wanted to compensate me for the Taj plan not happening. So even for dinner, Dada agreed to give us a pizza party! That was a good call, especially given the mess food was ultra boring :-S

At night, I decided to start up a bit on the pending IIMPrints thingie, but randomly, I first thought I'll just check out who is writing for whom. And there I realized there were still quite some people for whom no one had signed up yet! I didn't like that at all; due to oversight or whatever, this should not happen! So I sat down, noting down all ids who were left, looking up their etrigan details, trying to find out common friends and get someone to register for them :-)

Day 412: 3rd Nov, 2010

Almost forgot that classes are also a part of life :D . Was mighty bored to drag myself back to the routine of attending classes. And that too starting with one at 8.45 am. But kya karein.

For the past week, 30-70% of my talktime with my mom goes into combating queries as to whether or not I have "bought anything for Diwali". Now, this "Diwali shopping" is a concept that I have not been able to understand fully; I am the kinds who would rather buy "as and when needed". But, mainly to have a simple answer to this question, I have been making plans to go and buy something since the last couple of days, but unfortunately some stumbling block comes up! Today some stupid submission required people to go to the city and meet some distributor and all, and I was left with no company to go even today! Tomorrow - for sure! (No other option :) .. :-p)

PS: Got a great new business idea \m/ :D

Day 312: 18th Jul, 2010

I think I am getting incredibly large number of holidays :D . What else can explain this blissful existence of sleeping till 10am, having a leisurely bath and lunch, making plans for TWO other movies in the afternoon which eventually get cancelled because you dozed off for an afternoon siesta? Exams seriously are the most chill times on campus!

Didn't want to have dinner in the mess, especially as the menu for Sunday dinner is usually quite boring. Suddenly  remembered to go to this place called PizzaPort. Decent choice - nice pizza, VFM. The garlic bread was no match to Domino's though.

Must make a note of the weather too. Been raining all day today. It's even kinda cold! Great atmosphere!

Day 310: 16th Jul, 2010

Can't believe my exams are going on! If you were anywhere around me, you wouldn't either. Spent an absolutely JOBLESS day!

I really can't remember anything noteworthy about today. Except for not one, not two, but THREE call backs from a certain authority (much to the jealousy of my colleagues :P). Finished the book - Go, Kiss the World; the last 40 odd pages are really nice! Highly recommended!

Day 206: 26th Jan, 2010 - Happy Republic Day!

Timelines here are sacrosanct. On 15th August (Independence Day), I woke up a little late, ran all the way but still reached the venue exactly a minute late (no exaggeration) and missed the flag hoisting and national anthem. I wanted to ensure no such thing happens today. So I had set up an alarm for 8.30, one complete hour before the function at 9.30. I did manage to get up on time, snoozed the alarm for another 15min and then finally got up. I just thought I will confirm the venue once before leaving.

I opened my laptop to check any mail. And here it was:

"Dear Students

Flag Hoisting and Republic Day Celebrations will begin at 9.00 am. You are all invited for the same. The venue is the area adjoing the badminton court and the students affairs centre."

9.00 am!! :O .. Wasn't it supposed to be at 9.30?!?!?!

I checked my watch. 8.55 .. mocked back the face of the watch.

So there I was, running once again at full speed. But I think this time I have more practice running to the lectures and so I did manage to reach the venue just in the nick of time. I landed at the venue at the exact same moment when our beautiful Tricolour was hoisted to flutter in glory :)

Day 183: 3rd Jan, 2010

Yo readers! First of all, wish you all a very Happy New Year ! Had a super short but nice stay back home.. caught up with family & friends, got a new cell, saw some movies, ate ate ate .. in short - timepass with no strings attached.

A pic I captured on my flight back.

New Innings

And now, it's back to helL! Its freezing out here now. Came back and setup my room. Every term, my bed cover and blanket gets washed once and my bed looks clean and uncluttered (once). Downloaded some 50 odd mails into outlook (and deleted most of them without a first glance). Went to the mess to have a little dinner. Completed the other ritual of buying an Aquafina bottle; the bottle will be used for the next 3 months. Did some banter with Ghate, Sudeshna, Shipra (+ Mr. X) outside Nescafe and finally went back with the intention of sleeping early at 10.30.

And now.. it is 1 am again.. and I am yet to sleep. Just a few hours since I am here and already the helL-effect is showing. woah!

Day 182: 27th Dec, 2009

Sooner, not later

I guess I must be amongst the first people to be running off after exams. I had taken a flight at 2pm and my exam was supposed to end at 12.30pm. Which was a close call (unless of course I left the paper a little early ;-) :D ). Fortunately or unfortunately, the flight got delayed by 45 minutes, so now the gap was enough.

Anyways, about the DWO paper. Have already told you about my level of preparation. Let me now tell you that it had no connection with the paper. The last 30 marks question was amongst the weirdest ones I have seen. We had to analyse EVERYTHING about a case from EVERY aspect of the course. And the funniest part - there was no case ! We were supposed to take any example (real or hypothetical) and go ahead!

As I said, it was intention to finish off the paper asap. And though I was writing to the speediest of my abilities, I was shell shocked to find Bharat submitting the paper in 1.5 hrs! :-O

I finished the paper with about 20min to spare and then caught up with Swapnil Thakre and shared an auto to the airport. After dealing with some of the worst roads in India and a tyre puncture, did manage to reach the airport well in time.

Time for vacation now. Time to chill out and enjoy. Time for a vacation for this blog as well. Brutally short break this one. I hope to make the best of it ! :-)

So long folks!! Cya soon!!

Day 167: 12th Dec, 2009

The Charm of Craziness

I guess everyone always nurtures this desire to be or do something different and wacky. And insti parties always provide that environment. You would see perfectly normal people saturate every cell in their body with the highest possible alcohol content so that they can just 'let go' and (a little too literally) dance like no one is watching. I somehow don't need alcohol to be crazy :-p ; but today was one of those insti parties where I didn't indulge in dancing (read headbanging) but mostly just stood around drinking (juice :-p) and soaking in the loud music and watching others go bonkers :D . talli people are the funniest people on the planet, maybe even the universe. This guy who reeked of alcohol and who barely balanced himself on his feet came up to me sometime and said "dude... you are shaking. you need to keep track of how much you are drinking." :D . I was like "yes. thanks for pointing it out. my vision was kind of blurry by now."

BTW, today, after many many many days, we didn't have any class. Which meant I could coolly wake up at 9.40 without any feeling of guilt (hahaha) or remorse for missing attendance (ya!). Nothing much I did during the day. My mobile conked off yet again!! I was highly irritated at that point of time. But just as I was to go to the city, it miraculously came to life again! :D . Rest of the day was mostly a mix of HIMYM further episodes (which I now have to complete before end terms, else wouldn't be able to study then) and general chilling out.

Went to a movie in the evening - Rocket Singh at Wave cinemas. It turned out to be one of the best movies I have seen in quite some time. I can't specifically recall any great song or great scene... but the movie in general patched up really well and there was a good flow in it. A definite recommendation from my side.
