Day 526:3rd Mar, 2011

Woke up late and lazy today. This time, it wasn't just about not having anything to do for the day, but not having anything to do regards my MBA! Had a small celebration with lunch at Aryans followed by a visit to CCD. Man, this will be missed.

Had to finish some of my 'No Dues' formalities, and spent all the afternoon covering all the different departments, going to offices in basements which I didn't know existed :-p . Sat around gossiping at Fauzi for the rest of the evening.

Since we didn't have too many days left with us (all of us PGP2 INDEXians had trip plans), we decided to give our finals treat to junior core today itself. The final treat had to be grand, and what grander than Taj! :-) . Went there for the buffet dinner; had to use a little coaxing a persuasion, but we did manage to get a nice big table for ourselves. Had an awesome awesome time, special thanks to Makwana. :D :D . "There is always a goalkeeper, but we will still score" ROFL! :D . An awesome bike ride later on the empty night streets of Lucknow, got back to the INDEX room - for M.A.F.I.A.! Was a plan long pending, and it finally happened. Super fun - even Madman didn't sleep :-P

And just like it has happened for so many other days, this day too has been made special with some a light shower from the skies above :-) Wonderful! :-)

Day 511:16th Feb, 2011

I think third day in succession that my sleep got disturbed at dawn. Pretty cold today though, thanks to a fresh bout of rain. The poor blower's post winter break had to be abruptly cancelled :P

The next (and thankfully final) waking pit-stop happened straight at 12.15 noon :-S . No semblance of any afternoon though - it was a tad bit dark and still drizzling. But amazingly beautiful - clean and green in a way only nature does :-)

Typical vella day otherwise - mostly spent sitting in front of my laptop. Resumed gymming though! Was dead tired and wanted to go for a quick dinner, preferably outside. But neither did plans for 'outside' work out, nor did the 'quick' part, as my room was invaded by TG and Sheldon Salhotra for some INDEX budget clarifications. Luckily though - TG agreed to come for dinner to the ever-dependable Brij. Ate right till my oesophagus was full :P

Day 510:15th Feb, 2011 - Last exam at helL!

My last exam at helL today! :-) Leadership Discovery. And thankfully, it was a case-based open book, open slides exam :D . No pain.

And I don't know how I can describe it; but as I took those few steps away from the PGP block after my paper, there was this intense thrill and a feeling of "liberation", mixed with the feeling that it means the end is only near..

Lots of celebrations happening, some celebrating outside, and many more boisterously celebrate in hostels. I spent the sudden unexplained surge of energy with a music-filled walk around the campus. Followed it up with a mush movie - P.S. I Love You. Pretty typical one time watch, but doesn't come close to Notting Hill :-) . And special thanks to the great Bala for the choco-chip fudge dessert from Genesis!

And just before I sleep, God decides to make the day a little more special, with thunderstorms and rain :-)

Day 427:18th Nov, 2010 - Rains!

The last thing we could ever want - rains! :-| . That is something probably INDEX just can't hold out against! The only solace to be sought is that if it rains today and maybe a little tomorrow, it will be sunny Saturday onwards...

Meanwhile, the junior creative team has come up with yet another AWESOME video! Super stuff - Check it out!

Anyways, yesterday's problem doesn't seem to be heading towards any solution. As a matter of fact, we seem to be moving away from it slightly. One person's decision is to be diffused into a committee's. And highly probably that too many cooks will be spoiling the broth. But not to give up so easily - trying to "fix" some result. Lets see how it works out.

One very positive thing that I have seen over the past few days is the super spike in the enthusiasm shown by the junior core members post their midsems. The outcome of the above incident made them feel very angry towards us as well as others involved. This is brilliant, since in my opinion, it is a very healthy sign that they have now started feeling for INDEX at a very very deep and personal level. Took me back to one year ago, and I could easily identify this transition which happens as we draw close to the fair. Very soon, I am sure, INDEX, for them too, is going to be above anything else :-)

Day 386: 8th Oct, 2010

In Lucknow, it always rains suddenly in the midst of a bright and hot day, and then the sun comes out smiling again. So, one thing I have always wondered about is why there are no rainbows here. Obviously (like everyone else), I love rainbows and would love to have one popping up on the sky every now and then.

Now with hopes of getting a back-in-proper-condition handset after the third round of repairing, I planned to go to the city in the afternoon. Just as I was about to leave, the dark clouds got some jhatka and it started pouring :-S . As always, it stopped in some 20 minutes and plans were resumed.

I recorded my slowest ever time navigating the 3.4 road, thanks to all the slush (the road is left dug-up!) and potholes. However, imagine my delight when I suddenly spotted a rainbow in the sky!! Beeee-auuu-tiful! :-)

After very smartly carrying my bag just for the phone and its papers, I realised I had forgotten my Job Sheet, a kind of receipt for collecting back the handset. Now forgetting / losing receipts shouldn't really be a big issue in India. And moreover, I had always had the impression that North Indian people were more bindaas in their outlook towards business. Unfortunately for me, this fellow heading the CARE center was perhaps amongst the most useless of all people there can be. He took photocopy of my identity card and told me to write the time by which I would come the next day! :D .. Ironically, he must have felt like some big Bond person after doing all this show, while everyone else just wondered the depth of his stupidity.

Went to catch a movie after that. Unfortunately had to wait at least for 2 hours for any show! Including all the 3 multiplexes! Such a waste; especially compared to the eternal line of shows in Mumbai! But then, it ain't even a fair comparison :-p . Compensated instead with a dinner at Dasaprakash.

Day 343: 19th Aug, 2010

Woah, it's a bonus to get yet another ultra-awesome dialogue, once again from our conB prof :D . It all started off when sir asked the class about the quiz.
Class: "Sir, please take best of two"
Sir: (smiling) "I want to torture you. I will take the lowest of two and give marks"
:D :D

Fachas has the iBrand auction today. It started off with a pretty nice video. Good job by these guys. But, for sure, I missed Shanky's AWESOME commentary! :D . The max fun part was of course, ahem, the bid on certain "popular" places on campus :D

God knows why I decided to do some CSR for Vanki; went all the way to 3.4 in the drizzling dark night just for his sudden urge! :-S . Also, celebrated three birthdays in one night - pretty awesome!

Day 341: 17th Aug, 2010

Finally ... Win 7... and that too a licensed ULTIMATE! edition!! Yeyyyyyyy!!

Rained like crazy for two hours today! Full flooding in the area near GnB, thanks to the construction work and the awesome drainage system :-p . Consequently, myself and pachpan found ourselves in a starvation crisis as no body was reachable to place orders... until an angel came along with a flask full of hot tea. Came to know he was from Just Tea - another entrepreneurial venture on campus. The nice fellow even took an additional order and delivered it within 15 minutes - super!

The campus looks super green and beautiful though :)

Day 321: 27th Jul, 2010

Back to the sleeping at sunrise phase. And of course, only for INDEX. Had our final presentations today. People like to keep speaking about every single bullet point they have on their presentation; no wonder, we were running pretty late! We started off at 6 in the evening and finished at around 4 am early morning! Got some new and interesting data points though. Some tough calls need to be taken...

Much unlike the weather, which (at least for now) seems to have shed off its coat of cruelty. It was raining/drizzling all day - so the weather is nice and pleasant. Consequently, indulged in some khushiyon ki home delivery - Dominos! And even extended it a step ahead by bunking the strat man class. Would have been criminal to stay in an artificial AC environment in such awesome weather! :)

Day 300: 6th Jul, 2010

Had that proper romantic weather today. Cool, a little cloudy, the clouds a little dark. And then the skies opened - and it rained :D

It would have been criminal to go to class in such an awesome weather. Laziness crept in and I bunked strat man to ... watch LOST! Am almost at the end now, finally ! Just one episode to go.. LOST, but one. Hehe.

BTW, 300 days at hel(L)! Woah! :)

Day 219: 8th Feb, 2010 - Monkey Management!

Our section is quite (in)famous for asking for deadline extensions. True to the record, a few guys had been asking for postponement of submission of a couple of assignments. The efforts did pay off - the boring HRM journal reading task had been extended. But our FM prof's style of putting through the same point for his subject was awesome :D . His mail -
"The date for the first assignment submission is extended to 16th Feb 2010.

A line of advise for the lobbies. No more extensions on any course related matters will be entertained. You manage your monkey and I will manage mine.

Cheers until then "

Allowed myself to bunk a QAM class in the morning today to enjoy the luxury of some extra sleep :D :D

The next MIS class was the usual - scrambling to copy the assignment in the first 5 min, listening as the prof whiled his time (and ours) rambling on something that has no coherence or relevance to what he should be speaking on. Doesn't seem to be a good course at this juncture in the first place. Would have been much more logical to have a strategy course now and keep this as an elective next year.

INDEX room is now spacious, thanks to kisaan. Poor fellow had to become a mazdoor to unload the boxes at the shop :D . Had the extension of yesterday's meeting today. Things came to a logical conclusion.

Have my exams from day after. Doesn't seem like that at all. I have friends who are worried about tests a few days away.. and here I am to restore nature's balance.

And just as I finish writing this post, it's started to rain. Wonders never cease!

Day 192: 12th Jan, 2010 - Missing !

Blondie is our local intranet portal and every midnight, the batch gets a mass mailer where others can post their messages. Now, I haven't maintained any records, but I can easily bet that more than 90% of those mails are the 'Lost and Found' ones! It's really weird the kind of things that go missing on campus. We have had those mails for everything from watches to keys to rackets. There was even a case when someone simple forgot where he had kept his bike! :D . But today's entry takes the cake - one guy lost his suit ! The message as follows "I am not able to find my suit. I, being bad at remembering things, not able to relloect whether I lent it to somebody. So, in case somebody finds a blue coloured suit in a cover which has Chandigarh\'s address, then i would be really greatful. Being able to locate it would be a great help as placement time is around. Treat assured :) "

Had a caricature workshop in the evening. It was good, but my expectations from it was different. Shown here are a couple of pics of my effort. (the third one being the improvisation drawing :-p)

It's almost 2 am now. Am very very sleepy. Have an extra lec @ 9 in the morning, else could have slept till 10.15 :-x . And just when I am about to sleep, it's started to rain heavily! Wow... didn't see that coming!

Too tough to write anything sensible. Cyaa laters! gn!

Day 100: 6th Oct, 2009

A nice new timetable is effective from today. The previous TT was weird, we had lectures from 8.30 and then some random gap at around 11.00 between 2 lectures. From today the morning lecture has been squeezed in that gap. So our lectures start only at 9.45 :D . Yippeee!

It started raining yesterday late at night. But surprisingly it was still raining even in the morning. Even more surprisingly, it rained harder and harder and eventually IIM L campus got a couple of artificial lakes - one outside Fauji and one outside the Nescafe area. Couldn't see the ground below at all :-O

Anyways, today calls for a toast. 100 days in helL, a century! And still alive and kicking!

Day 98: 4th Oct, 2009

Suddenly started raining today in the morning due to which the morning matches and cultural events had to be cancelled. I don't know about the teams but the to-be-referee, Ghate, sure was happy to know that he could continue with his sleep :-p

The rain managed to keep most people inside for a good part of the today, mainly by instilling and instigating the slightly dormant laziness inside the helL people. Not wanting to cave in to sleep, it was then that I resorted back to my music indulgence. Uploaded a few recent songs into my ipod shuffle, plugged it into my ears, loaded the lyrics from the internet and blasted my vocal cords off. Thus, I stayed insulated even as I subjected my wing mates to the torture :D .

Finally, went out for dinner. Next stop - the rock show that was going on. This was followed by a band called Faridkot. I must say they played pretty well. And the crowd numbers didn't do much justice. Just made me think that people really don't value something when it comes 'free'. Except may be alcohol. The performance was followed by the insti party. Although I stayed till the end, must say I was a little less active this time. Almost left a couple of times in between only to be lured back by the loud music. Finally came back and slept at around 4 am. Tomorrow (today i.e.) lecture begins at 8 am. Isn't that fun? :D

Day 61: 20th Aug, 2009

Wow! After many many days woke up with the rays of the sun falling on my face! :D . Now I know the PJ maker in you will arise and say "toh subah subah kya moonlight aaega". Well, my initial statement is significant because the last entire week was the wettest week till now. Mad perpetual rains. And hardly any sunshine. Today was nice.

There is such a barrage of mails here that most mails are just read superficially. Just 3 days back, a mail was sent informing people that classes have been preponed by 15 minutes. Still, majority junta walked in at the usual time! With a nice shocked expression on their faces :D

Had the MANAC quiz in the evening. As I said, love such quizzes where everyone gets screwed :D. Actually, a little-short-on-time types paper. Some more time would have helped. Oh well, not helped me, but some people atleast :-p .

But all in all, super chillax day. Nothing apart from these things. I slept off at approximately 10.15! HEEEHAHAHHAA! :D

Days 37,38: 27th-28th July, 2009

And finally it has happened. After a month of being consistent and punctual, the last 2 days finally brought out the never-to-go-to-college-on-time engineering student in me :-p . Day before yesterday, I woke up at 8.35 for an 8.30 lecture. Could have still made it to the lecture but decided to have breakfast instead and attend the second lec directly. Raised the bar a little higher today by waking up at 9.35 !! Had to RUSH so that I atleast make it to the 2nd lecture.

During engineering, I used to sleep late just wasting time browsing the net and chatting. Here I waste time:
1. copying assignments (old habits die hard :-D)
2. working on the committee tasks that we have
3. trying to remember something about the tons and tons of presentations that are lined up

Our Comm prof wants us to come in formals for the presentations. Actually to be honest I don't know if the prof ever actually said that or some bugger who ran out of casuals just floated the rumour. But either way, it just implies wasting an extra 2-3 minutes in the morning wearing a shirt and trouser and tying the laces of my formal shoes! And we had not been told in which order the groups will be called for presentations, which means formals till my turn comes. Tomorrow however being the last session, it will also be the day of my presentation. Apart from this, I have a LAM presentation, Comm assignment, Comm quiz and MANAC assignment lined up tomorrow.

One great change that has happened here is the weather. The Rain God has finally smiled on the parched lands. Thankfully, it is very pleasant here now. A perfect romantic setting. Just that I neither have a partner :-p . Nor the time :-( .

Finally all the knocking on doors by random people at odd hours and asking for votes stopped. Council elections are out. One of the first high-profile posts in the college to get decided. Hope they do a good job!

Also gave midterm reviews for 2 committee tasks today. Both were OK. The committees were more in a guiding mood than in a grilling mood :-D. And I am not complaining! But parallely, pcom interviews are taking place and they are super duper stress interviews. I have one lined up tomorrow, lets see how I do!

Anyways, it is 3.30 now. Just got to go and sleep. CANNOT afford to miss the lecture tomorrow!
