Day 220: 9th Feb, 2010 - Are we choosing the right leaders?

The post has nothing to do with what is happening at the macroscopic level. It is about something that is happening here.

I have no intention to wash dirty linen in public, but suffice to say, no person anywhere can get away with abusing a position of authority (and responsibility!) for long. The title of the post is actually the subject line of an email sent by an esteemed professor of our institute to the entire student community, appalled by the behaviour of a certain student representative. The said "Mr. Leader" has slipped way down the popularity ladder ever since he was elected and today's action just added fuel to the fire and started a tirade of insults pelted at him. I hope everybody would always remember the famous spiderman quote - With great power comes great responsibility. The super talented Mr. Vishrani came up with a brilliant caricature summing it all up!

As I write this post, I suddenly recollect on a couple of events that I totally missed out! (Though I may be repeating this :-p). Senior council elections are over. Most seats went uncontested, which is not very cool in a democratic setup, though I must add that some candidates are totally worth the positions (ironically, in stark contrast to the paragraph above!).

We have also re-started Channel Hell - IIM Lucknow's very own radio channel. It typically runs weekends. Tonight of course, there was a special coverage - Leadership awards!

Chalo anyways, exams from tomorrow. Best of luck to you and me!

PS: Got our 2nd term CG. The whole batch has taken a hit - and INDEXians have outdone others!

Day 180: 25th Dec, 2009

Kal exam hai ?

Doesn't seem like it when you woke up at 11. (With hazy recollections of some senior walking into your room and switching your helmet - yea Naveen, you can't hide :-p).

Doesn't seem like it when you spend another two hours in the afternoon repairing your specs, not because you'll need it in your exams, but because you'll need it while watching movies in the vacation!

Doesn't seem like it when you vehemently stop yourself from going to remedials, even though you know nothing.

Doesn't seem like it when you haven't started studying even till late evening and stick to the company of people who are also not doing anything :D

But there is. And what's more, it's early morning instead of afternoon! :(

Started studying. Went with Saurabh to the 9 pointer's room to get a past paper explained by someone. Absorbed a little bit of that. The major motivation obtained was that MANAC 2 was a lot more about common sense and DI than MANAC 1. And survival should not be a problem. Aur kya chahiye? :D

Day 175: 20th Dec, 2009

The Great Indian Fraud

Imagine this. You are asked to prepare some Chinese food. But all you do is order some pizza. And when the person comes, you treat him to the pizza. And yet, eventually when he leaves, he feels he had the best Chinese food ever! ;-) . Talk about GLOBE! This one far outclasses any other effort :D

Exams in 2 days. Most people have started with something. I started watching Inglourious Basterds -yet another Tarantino movie. Found it ok, not as great as Kill Bill definitely !

It's pretty chilly today. I guess the cold weather is catching up. I just hope it does not induce me to keep sleeping. Really can't afford that in the next few days!

Had pizza for dinner today with Saurabh, Riza and Shruti over some general tp/chat about Riza-Fiza, CG, insti parties, Saurabh's-hunt-for-US'T', etc etc. Good fun. And to top it all, the cheese was still dripping from the pizza! Yummmyyyyy!!

Day 131: 6th Nov, 2009

Pretty interesting day today!

Got our 1st term CGs. Have done better than what I thought I would. But yea, a little bit of a maggu batch this one... CG level seems to have gone up overall as well. And my section has gone bonkers - four 9-pointers; howzzat ! INDEX seniors are massively disappointed :-p .. Shruti is the big thing disguised as a small package, scoring a 9-pointer! I think it might be a first in INDEX ever :D

Had the 3rd interview today. Another round of HR questions. I really like the fact that they are serious about evaluating their candidates. But yea, it would be a little silly to not get through after the 3rd round interview.

Slowly people are recollecting the harsh truth called exams. Went for the MANAC remedials late evening. In the midst of the lecture, got to know from Shreyas' SMS that I got through Quetzal ! Awesome!! Summers over for me, finally! I guess this marks another qualitative landmark of the IIM L stay -

Went to the INDEX room. Bloody I got bumps again! Got started with all the pending INDEX work :)
