Day 461:28th Dec, 2010

Oops, that one day of TT has left me with a nagging body ache.

Anyways, Pachpan came back to campus today (temporarily - he seems to be planning to live this term outside). And with him, came back the zealous pursuit of kiddish nonsense. The seeds though were (for a change) sown by MMR, who concocted one absolutely news piece of "information" about me. I had no intentions to have any stand on that, and that didn't help their cause (unless their cause was exclusively about fun). Even roping in Haathi, they went to confront Chatur. After a lot of data mining, finally they found something which eventually turned out to be absolutely out of context anyways. But yes, they did end up having a ball.

I spent a good bit of the evening arranging a gift for my Dad's birthday tomorrow. Somehow, I could not buy a greeting card, and even getting one now would not ensure it would reach home on time. So I spent some time researching other options. A little after going through the standard options of flowers and cakes, I came across a more innovative and hatke gifting idea. Promptly spent some time creating a collage of the (extremely limited) pics that I had; did manage to create a decent one though :) Felt good!

Went pretty late to the mess for dinner, but surprisingly, it was actually - hold your breath - good today! Simple but tasty food, with some nice kheer at the end for desserts. MessComm, why can't we have this everyday!

I skipped night mess thinking I'll retire to bed early. But as usual, reading random blogs have kept me awake for a lot of time. And a nice 1 hour long call with a close friend to end the day on a nice note :-)

Day 460:27th Dec, 2010

Just two classes in the day, but still that seems SO much in term 6. The morning class makes me wake up early. And the afternoon class doesn't let me doze off in the afternoon :P

But after a long long time, it was time for some table tennis. For these many days, we never played as I was the only person with a bat in the wing. Except that two days back we realized that TG also had one. And so the ping-pongs have started again. I joined them today, and played quite a bit all through evening.

But each time such an incident occurs, it is followed by only one thought - need to exercise! Even with this minimal physical activity, I am tired! :(

Day 306: 12th Jul, 2010

It feel real nice to wake up a good 2 hrs before class. That way you can stop (not snooze!) the alarm and get back to sleep. What's not cool is that the next you wake up, you realise you have overslept by 7 minutes and missed the class :-( . That's the story for Retail class today.

Have been more or less adhering to my compromised every-alternate-day-swimming schedule. The more interesting game however was the ones I played after that. Armed with ONE table tennis bat and a ball, we went to the TT room. The usually present common TT bat wasn't available. So lack of resources prompted creativity. Started playing TT with hand. Also tried playing it with chappals. Finally zeroed in on playing a highly modified version of squash - single player, TT ball, TT bat, wall :D . Was SUPER fun though!

Day 276: 12th Jun, 2010

It's kinda weird when you start making yourself feel "productive" after trying repeatedly and finally getting a 100+ continuous rebounds of a TT ball against the wall. But that's the great sense of achievement with which I started the day today.

We had to take a case write-up to our Prom Strat class today. Arbitrarily, ma'am caught this one guy. Who picked up someone else's write-up and went on stage and did manage to speak 'something'. One year of MBA, if not anything else, does help you learn to come up with impromptu bullshit.

Pretty slow day after that. Became suddenly obsessed with 'Bhaja Govindam'. Was listening to a short version recited by MS. (Not that I am very much into music etc., got the link from a friend's blog). But it was nice and soulful, and the lyrics are profound and deep. Don't think the advice will last for long though. I tend to make my own philosophy for things \m/ , ones which change as per convenience :D

Played some TT today. I enjoyed it. Though I again didn't play as well as I can / should ! Read a little bit of 'Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish' by Rashmi Bansal. The 3-4 stories I read were interesting, but not exactly inspiring. Though ample scope to draw learnings from each of them.

Learnt from Shomu how to operate the washing machine. My first clothes washing stint in this hostel :D.

Have also fallen victim to a running nose. Nothing is more irritating than that ! Going to take a tablet and put myself to sleep.

Day 258: 19th Mar, 2010

Oh, I don't know how I forgot to write this yesterday! Some more raid on seniors - this time the target being Pravin. I took a tennis racket and a TT bat from him (for now .. more to follow in a week). Kisaan took away BOTH his badminton rackets and pachpan also took away his tennis racket. Man, this is fun :D

I continued my exploitation of the high attendance resource piled up by sleeping through the FM class (in the room i.e. :-p) . Went for the HRM class in which this funny thing happened - the prof made a statement which, thanks to the wonders of the Queen's language, can be interpreted in an altogether different meaning - "... the same applies to sexual harassment. You must have experienced that in your Behaviour In Organisations class". After that, sat down all by myself and did the SCM Nike assignment. That felt nice :)

I seem to have lots of time right now. Just saw The Dark Knight again. Read quite a bit of Calvin and Hobbes. And a little bit of Harry Potter. And all this conveniently sitting on my bed, thanks to the extra long LAN cord given by Sanghvi! :D . It's 5.30am now and the charge on my laptop is almost out. Guess I'll treat it as a sign and sign off for the day (or night.. or the next day.. arghh!). Chalo guys, cya tomorrow and have a nice weekend!

PS: the last 2 words reminded me that we have tons and tons of extra lectures of ADA lined up in the next 2-4 days..!! shucks!

Day 243: 4th Mar, 2010 - Aaraam :D

Am wondering how days are SO free suddenly. Had only ONE lecture today, and I bunked even that one to get some extra sleep. Went to the city to get my specs repaired. Played a round of pool at H11. Continued the sporting equipment hunt ;-) and then played around 15-16 games (!!!) of TT with Kaushik :D. Then saw 3 episodes of LOST and am now done with season 3. Followed that up with dinner and some hockey action in the mess followed by an exploratory walk around the campus. Back to my room and I hear we have only 2 hrs of lectures tomorrow.

C'est la vie!

Day 210: 30th Jan, 2010 - Smart or Smarter?

If you are smart, you can make good ppts in term 3. If you are smarter, you won't need to make ppts in term 3 :D . Won't go into details here, but SKD and KR did just that today :D

I managed to write another poem today. Tried some variation with the rhyme scheme. You can check out the poem by clicking here.

We had an MM quiz today. Earlier, during the lecture, we asked our prof if there would be objectives in the paper. He said "some of it". He wasn't lying - one question of the 10 had alternatives.

After playing some VERY poor TT, went with TG to the city to handover some certis. Made him more of a man by asking him to ride the bike for a part of the return journey.

And after aeons, the INDEX room is now clean! Wayyy tooooooo clean.. kuch karna padega to make it more acceptable :-p

Day 138: 13th Nov, 2009

My sleep saga has no end. This phenomenon of unforced extra sleep is a sure fixture in atleast one paper. This time the opportunity cost involved eco. Slept off at 11pm and woke up straight at around 8.15am :-O . Thankfully for me, the respite was that it was one of the easier papers we saw this term. Not just in relative terms (which wasn't too difficult to achieve given the other papers) but also in absolute terms. Post exam analysis revealed that the ENTIRE paper was an EXACT COPY of last year's paper :-S . And then he cuts our marks for copying in assignments :-)

First time this semester that we spent time doing random tp. Afterall, DWO tomorrow. Although it has maximum syllabus, the very thought of going in its vicinity is sleep provoking :-S . We were treated to enlightening facts about RBI and Air India by Pills. The 'proud-of-being-an-AirIndia-frequent flyer' literally has the timetable of AI flights by heart :D . Not to undermine Riza's stories about Bangalore's uncovered under-bridges and the plight of the people when a train passes above :-p

Played some TT post dinner. Although at best an average player, I do take TT a little seriously in a weird sort of way when it comes to improving myself. My game has improved a little. Very little though. Lots more to achieve in terms of reduction of unforced errors.

Came to my room and finally was about to start studying when Dhamdhere called me to the mess. There I go again. DWO... so long...
