Day 368: 20th Sep, 2010 - Address Change!

Sudden whim & I changed the URL of this blog to something a little more in sync with the semantics. I hope I don't lose my sincere followers :-)

Before the infinite time got to my mind to make it a devil's workshop, a new hobby or rather a new challenge has come into my life. The best-selling toy of all time - The Rubik's cube! So what happened is, yesterday a random discussion centered around the Rubik's cube started, and it culminated in Pachpan spending the night learning the algorithm from the net (YouTube rocks!) and proudly showing off a re-constructed cube in the morning.

But I though an algo makes things too mechanical, and so the entire day I have been trying to solve it just by logic/intuition, with some hints on the right anchors. Was pretty successful till reaching an intermediate stage. But am big time stuck after that. Now every time I try to bring about any improvement, I mess things up and end up back at square one! :-( 

But, the fight ain't over yet!

Day 249: 10th Mar, 2010 - 'Pen'sive

Just yesterday I was happy that we were group 8 in ADA and it was only the turn of the 1st group to present. But as luck would have it, in an absolutely random manner, Sir simply called out one arbit group number and that turned out to be ours! :-S The funniest part was the prof even contemplated asking us to present stuff in the 4.00 pm lecture.. luckily the lecture was at 2.30pm leaving us with very little time, but a very big excuse.

Consequently got to present it tomorrow. Along with MM research assignment. And MIS. And SCM :-| . Not to mention the ADA quiz to be held in the evening. Practically the whole of section B was at the library today. Our group divided the tasks pretty neatly I would say. It's around 3.45 now and I just about came back from the lib some 30min back. Will sleep now - 8.45am lecture tomorrow. And I have work lined up to do in class. Like tweak the MIS assignment. And modify the hitherto-kept secret design :D

Day 210: 30th Jan, 2010 - Smart or Smarter?

If you are smart, you can make good ppts in term 3. If you are smarter, you won't need to make ppts in term 3 :D . Won't go into details here, but SKD and KR did just that today :D

We had an MM quiz today. Earlier, during the lecture, we asked our prof if there would be objectives in the paper. He said "some of it". He wasn't lying - one question of the 10 had alternatives.

After playing some VERY poor TT, went with TG to the city to handover some certis. Made him more of a man by asking him to ride the bike for a part of the return journey.

And after aeons, the INDEX room is now clean! Wayyy tooooooo clean.. kuch karna padega to make it more acceptable :-p

Day 106: 12th Oct, 2009

Yesterday night the entire batch was suddenly presented with a new DI problem with the sudden population of the e-notice board. Some of the groups solved it (including ours). Others just didn't have enough resources.

Anyways, on to more mundane things. Used the day to create a poem. You can read the poem at this link. Took a span of three lecs - eco, MM and DWO. Mainly because MM and DWO were distracting because of CPC with Pandhi going over the top to incorporate 'alternating current' in the session.

Soumen dada is in mohabbatein mode with his sweater and all. Considering the placement season buzz of PPOs and PPIs, we are happy to introduce a PPA on our bench. PPA - Parampara Pratishtha Anushasan :D . We also have plans to introduce awards under his name. Soumen Das scholarship: for display of high academic consistency, i.e. people getting 4 CG throughout.
