Day 471:7th Jan, 2011

These days one just can't make out whether it is 12 in the afternoon or 6.30 in the morning with a glance outside. No wonder, it is becoming more and more difficult to attend even afternoon classes! Luckily managed to make it to this LD class, which was good as we even had our presentation today. No issues there, I played my part of the slide-changer (and thus contributed more than 33% of our group).

Just as I was having lunch wondering how to spend the day, plans got made. (That is often a consequence of Pachpan being around). We left to watch No One Killed Jessica at Fun. The first theatre movie for 2011 and it turned out to be pretty good. (BTW, they played the National Anthem before the movie here too. Something I have seen happen only in Bombay. But definitely, something welcome.) Based quite a lot on facts (Jessica Lal case), the movie was quite hard hitting. I would highly recommend everyone to see the movie.

While Pachpan and Kisaan left immediately after the movie, Bala, Shomo, MMR and myself stayed back for some shopping and food. Got myself a new belt (and a pretty expensive Satya Paul one!), as if that's what is going to get me the job :-P . Also got myself a new brand of 'clothes', the first time I switched after many many years. Followed up all that shopping with a nice dinner at Cultures (where I should have ordered something better than a Risotto!), braved the freezing cold even though I was riding pillion and survived. Somehow, from somewhere, got into an ultra long, convoluted but engrossing conversation on gTalk. And now that it is done, time to put myself to sleep. So long!

Day 413: 4th Nov, 2010 - What we have all been waiting for!

Slept relatively early, but still managed to wake up only at around 10:10. Luckily we didn't have the early morning proj fin class. Read my way through the BE class, to follow it up with an INDEX meet at 12:00 noon! I think that's a first, never had a meeting in day time :D

I got too much exhortations from Kisaan on the necessity to go out and enjoy on Diwali eve rather than attend a class. (Did I really need it?). And anyways, my "shopping" was pending. Consequently, I bunked EPA and we instead went to the newly opened Phoenix Mall. It's definitely a disappointment especially in comparison to the publicity it did - much smaller than Sahara and Fun mall. Even the stores didn't have much variety. Ate a little in the food-court (paneer takatak - first time heard that name, so ordered, OK-OK stuff) and then left for FUN mall. But Kisaan brilliantly managed to be sure of the route and within 15 minutes lose his way. And so we somehow ended up going to Sahara mall - that place is definitely so much better. All the stores had a far better variety of stuff. Eventually however, I ended up buying one shirt, while Kisaan impulsively ended up shopping for a sweatjacket, a pair of shoes and a jeans :D . Ended the stint with a super Baskin Robbins ice-cream :D

Came back to my room and saw that our subcomm creative stud had finished the teaser video for INDEX 2010. And tell you what - it's just AWESOME!! :D

Just some time back, I suddenly saw the "Crazy Taxi" facebook application. And for some strange reason, threw myself a challenge that I would beat everyone else on my friend list :-| . After 40min, I now emerge victorious and as the highest scorer amongst my friends! \m/ Will sleep peacefully now!

And technically, it's 4 am, and Diwali now ;-) Happy Diwali! :)

Day 387: 9th Oct, 2010 - Robot!

Being super cut off from the main city has its disadvantages. One of those is it often becomes boring to go all the way there to do things which you would otherwise have done, a prime example being getting stuff repaired. And the chief in this category would happen to be none other than the ubiquitous cell phone.

Now, I had been having issues with my cell for quite some time - I had just collected my phone after repairs yesterday only to find that it STILL wasn't working. A lunch conversation with a random sample brought out interesting statistics - more than 50% of us had a Nokia cellphone to be repaired :) . (BTW, we seemed to be quite confident it could be extrapolated to the batch). So two more of my friends jumped in to accompany me to the Care center. Another one decided it would be a good idea to catch a movie as well. And of course, one can't refuse that kind of a suggestion (even if it meant missing the guest lecture :-p).

So off we (MMR, Taklu, AdiJ, Pachpan and myself) went, first to the Care center. And from there to Fun Republic, to watch... ROBOT! With a speed 1 Terahertz, memory 1 zetabyte, how can you expect anything less than awesome :-p . Basically it seemed like people finally realised there is no villain worthy enough of Rajnikant, so they just pitted him against himself. Who wins? ;-) Seems like even Rajnikant himself as a villain is not good enough for Rajnikant, the HERO!

Went with AdiJ to Ghate's birthday at Genesis. A nice little meet that also included sud, justice and of course, Ghate himself :-p . For a change, sat outside on the lawn though. Pleasant ambience, they even had a live singer and all (though he wasn't really that good :-p).
